About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover: Coralline red algae, Clathromorphum nereostratum, growing in a North Pacific near-shore setting. Some coralline red algae can live for hundreds of years while forming annual growth increments in their calcitic skeleton, similar to tree rings. They can be used as archives of past ocean temperatures. See “Coralline red algae as high-resolution climate recorders,” by Halfar et al., p. 463–466.
