About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover: Depositional fan stratigraphy of a ca. 1.25 Ma gully in Eastern Promethei Terra, Mars. Secondary crater clusters provide a unique chronostratigraphic marker in the depositional history of the fan that allows the system to be dated. The age and stratigraphy of the fan suggest that top-down melting of snow and ice during favorable spin-axis/orbital-induced climate changes may be responsible for gully formation. See “Unique chronostratigraphic marker in depositional fan stratigraphy on Mars: Evidence for ca. 1.25 Ma gully activity and surfi cial meltwater origin” by Schon et al., p. 207-210.
